South Africa beat Australia by 31 runs in the fifth ODI at Cape Town, whitewash visitors 5-0 in the series. David Warner’s 173 in vain for the Smith-led unit.

South Africa won the fifth and final ODI with a 31-run victory in Cape Town. Rilee Rossouw struck 122 to lead the Proteas to an imposing 327 for eight. Australia yet again fell short despite a brilliant 173 from David Warner.

South Africa’s innings was built around a 178-run partnership between Rossouw and JP Duminy (73) and Warner lacked any real support in the tourists’ chase.
